[1.0] The Poogie and Pre-requisites

Ah, our beloved cute little piggy, the Poogie. Legend has it that if you pet this before your quest you will have good luck and increase the chances of having better rewards. While there isn't any concrete proof yet on Monster Hunter World, there is really no harm in doing so. In fact, if you do, there are certain benefits as it can get you some items, meal vouchers and cute clothing for fun.
By the way, if you want the video version of this guide just click here

You will find the Poogie around the Tradeyard in Astera. In order to be able to have access to the clothing and the ability to receive items from it, you have to keep petting him between each quest up to the point that it jumps up with hearts after doing so (see vid at the 00:15 mark). You can tell it really likes you when it follows you around or greet you after coming back from a quest. This is a bit annoying though as there is a tendency for you to talk to  the Poogie instead of the actual NPC you are trying to talk to. He he. Anyway, to properly pet the Poogie simply talk to it, select the Pet option and wait for the "!" to appear and press circle/B again. If you screw up the timing it will get mad and knock your butt off. Do this repeatedly between each quest as doing this multiple times in one instance will have no effect. Once you and the little guy are close, you can select the "Pick Up" option to carry it around Astera. Notice that sometimes your controller vibrates in certain areas. You can press the square/X button to put it down along that area and it will dig up a hidden item for you. Again you can only do this in between quests, so basically one item at a time. Note that if you stop petting the Poogie for a long time, it will stop liking you, so to maintain good spirits with it, never forget to pet it each opportunity you get.

Now on to the specifics...

[2.0] Useful Items (Meal Voucher, Dung, Ivy, Mega Nutrients, etc.)

One of the most useful items it can dig up for you are meal vouchers. It will require some extra effort as you need to carry it all the way up to the handler near the canteen. Once the controller vibrates, put it down and it will dig up a meal voucher for you. This is not always available though but definitely worth the trouble if you are short on meal vouchers to receive the food benefits you need in the canteen. And no, you cannot use the lift to transport the Poogie, you need to do this the long way. Scattered along Astera are some other items such as Dung, Mega Nutrients, Ivy, Barrel Bombs, etc. This appear to be specific to certain spots. Note that all these are not guaranteed or available 100% of the time, but you if you have time especially when waiting for the quest to load, you can bring the Poogie to these areas to check if he can dig up one. If it sleeps just pick him up again and drop him along the area where the controller vibrates.

You can use the Pro-Transporter armor skill set to be able to carry the Poogie around faster. See this video using the Kulu Ya-Ku headgear.

Dung which can be used to craft dung pods and is not available for cultivation (lol), can be found near the spot in Astera where you can find your last captured monster.

Ivy or Parashoom can be found in the books near the Ecological Research.

Mega Nutrients, Immunizer or Catalyst can be found in the area between the Provisions Supply and the tent where the Argosy captain settles.

Other items such as Barrel Bomb near the Resource Center and crafting materials such as Monster bone, a low grade Armor Sphere, Might seed, etc. So far the ones listed above are what I find most useful since some cannot be cultivated in the Botanical Research. These are also near the quest board so they are easy to pick up before the quest starts. This might be updated in the future if I find something more useful and worth the trouble.

[3.0] Memorial Stripes

You have this clothing by default. You can play around with the colors.

[4.0] White Jammies

To get the White Jammies you have to carry the Poogie to this area near the Ecological Research. It will dig up the clothing. Note that you cannot get all clothing in one go, do it after each quest.

[5.0] Hog in a Frog

The Hog in a Frog clothing you can find beside the right scoutfly lamp in the Botanical Research Area. Again just bring the Poogie along the area after a quest.

[6.0] Apprentice Fiver

This clothing you can find along the flags near the Commander's area.

[7.0] Emperor's New Duds

To get this clothing it will again require a little effort. You need to carry the Poogie all the way to the top of Astera. Just carry it up the stairs, go  inside the Workshop and take the stairs behind it. Now, go all the way to the top into the shed. You will find the clothing here. IMPORTANT NOTE: It seems you need to finish the story first before you can obtain this (after defeating Xeno'Jiiva). If that is not the trigger then try it after completing the quests to unlock HR caps, mainly Beyond the Blasting Scales (9*, hunt 2 Tempered Bazelguese) and Thunderous Rumble in the Highlands (9*, hunt Tempered Kirin).

[8.0] Busy Bee

Free Poogie clothing from the Spring Blossom Event

That would be all of the available clothing for now. I am sure they will be adding more in the future so I will be updating this guide when the time comes. Hope you were able to get all of these. Which one is your favorite? I personally like the Emperor's New Duds for cuteness and the Apprentice Fiver for a cool looking piggy.

  1. most recently there was the outfit gained in the celestial pursuit during the anniversary celebration that ended in feb 2019. I already have this outfit so IDK if there is another way to get it, but it could go on the list anyway, maybe? great page!
