Tekken 7: Testing Noctis Combos (Day 1-2)

Finally, Noctis has arrived! Day 2 and most of us are still figuring out most combos and how to use him efficiently. This is my current short list of non-ch combos my friend and I are using, I am sure there are still so much more and most that need optimizing and maxing out damage. However, I wanted to consider the difficulty for now and these are fairly easy to do. I'd rather do an easy combo with enough damage than the maximum damage with a high risk of failing. Just until I finally get the hang of using this dude. I am having a hard time ending with f,f+4. Some combos will be similar as we realize which strings can be put together. Just mix and match and I hope the following combos will help you. I will come up with an updated list and vid in the future once we have these all sorted out. Feel free to drop your comments for suggestions or corrections. Spoilers... you're going to see a lot of 2's... Ha ha.

Short list, non-CH combos:
1. d/f+2 4,2 2,2,2 S! d/f+1 2,2,b+2 (11 hits-61 damage)

Monster Hunter World: The Only Way to Farm Zorah Magdaros and Xeno'Jiiva Materials and Why You Should

I guess by now you are familiar with Zorah Magdaros and Xeno'Jiiva right? Or no? Wait, what? Okay, if you're new then you probably don't want to read this because this might spoil your adventure but if you've progressed enough in the story and about to face them, all the more reason to read into this. If you're a veteran hunter or way past these two, sorry this article might not be for you.

Zorah Magdaros and Xeno'Jiiva are like special monsters in this game as you cannot normally hunt them via usual quests like the other monsters. They are Elder Dragons part of the main story and upon completing their initial quest under Assigned Quests (story mode), they will randomly appear in your Optional quests randomly (you need to do them right away as they disappear after some time).
They can also be included on Event Quests from time to time. So why should you start farming their materials? It's only been almost two months after Monster Hunter World's release and a lot of people are doing these quests. Some will do them solo but a lot of people will be using the S.O.S. feature and will grant you the opportunity to get what you need without waiting for it to pop out on your optional quests. The thing is as time pass by, the number of people hosting these quests will also diminish compared to the first few months of the game. I may be wrong but it wouldn't hurt to stock up on materials you have and do as them as much as you can especially the Xeno'Jiiva quest as its materials are widely used not just for its own set but for various weapons and charms. Most final version of weapons in their corresponding trees need the Xeno'Jiiva gem. So if you're in need of these materials or simply want to stock up on them, just go to the Respond to SOS feature and select the monster on the target preference and join the optional or assigned quests (some will be asking for help when they first encounter it). Before charging in however, make sure you know what you're up against as you might be a burden to the team if you faint multiple times as a lot of stuff in the environment goes kaboom and can one shot you.

Zorah Magdaros

After completing the quest "A Colossal Task", you are now officially promoted to high rank (HR11). The Zorah Magdaros optional quest "Left Quite the Impression" will appear from time to time. Now, hunter rank 11, during this stage of your life as a hunter, you might find it hard to get by some high rank versions of the monsters you have faced before because of your low rank armor. The quickest and easiest way to make up for this is by farming for Zorah Magdaros materials to complete the whole set. This is a decent set for early high rank. At this point, I am also pretty sure that you have a shortage of jewels to slot into your equip so you might as well craft the Alpha versions for more skills. Your raw damage might also be not high enough and the weapons from the Zorah tree can help with that, the blast status is also a good bonus. The advantage in going for these equipment is that you do not need to fight the monster head-on unlike the other monsters. You simply need to do the same thing when you first met it that is destroying its cores and then eventually using the cannons, ballistas and dragonator (always had fun saying this, but it reminds me of food) to deal damage while also breaking its parts in the process.

Now for this quest, initially you would want to destroy all 3 cores as much as possible. This is not a requirement but more parts destroyed more chance rewards in the end. Start with the one in the middle as the nearest, then the one on the lower part. Watch out for the explosions, you can see the lava building up before it goes off. Just visually confirm it or stay at the side of the core with no cracks, lava will not come out from that spot. Deal with the last one while also destroying parts such as these along the way. You might want to farm the minecrops as well. Eventually Nergigante will come but you don't really need to face him, he'll fly away after a certain time. There is a time limit to these, if you were able to destroy all 3 cores before that just wait it out until you get transported via Wingdrake to the barrier.
Now on to the final phase of the operation. Just load up the cannons (up to five balls) and shoot at Zorah Magdaros. Keep in mind you can adjust the angle by moving the cannons on either of its sides. Aim at the breakable parts until they get destroyed. Just watch out for the small flying monsters, they are there to annoy and distract you. You can also use the ballistas here, one ammo for shooting and one for restricting the Zorah Magdaros' movement for a short time. Also always watch out for meteorites from time to time. You're probably too busy doing something though to be able to notice this so just be ready with your potions and stay at close to full health all the time. When the quest prompts you to use the dragonator, go to the leftmost portion of the barrier and jump down to use the switch and poke Godzilla's ass for some awesome damage. Use the cannons here as well to make the most out of the distance you traveled. Do this until you finally draw the Zorah Magdaros to see. Oh, by the way, apart from the faint count the quest fails if the barrier gets destroyed which happens if you weren't able to do enough damage in due time. You may use the video below for your reference. Enjoy your Zorah Magdaros set, you'll eventually replace it with your armor of choice once you are comfortable enough to take down those monsters.

Xeno'Jiiva

Spoiler alert! This is your last chance to turn back. No? Okay, this is the final boss. This is one huge ass elder dragon that you need to cross out in your long list of victims. Don't get intimidated, he is fairly easy if you know what you are doing. The attacks are slow and the animation is enough to see what's coming. Upon completing the first quest "Land of Converrgence", the optional quest "A Light Upon The River's Gloom" will appear from time to time. Don't miss out on the opportunity as this will disappear after some time. Unlike Zorah Magdaros, you will have to engage this one in actual battle.

This guy is really slow but do not underestimate it as it has a lot of attacks that can one shot you. What you want to do is stay below it or near the front legs. Take not of the weakpoints and breakable parts. I usually start by severing the tail first and try to carve it twice when I find an opening as you might not have enough time to carve everything without the right skills.

Watch out for the tail attack, this may take a chunk of your health or if not one shot you with a clean hit. After this, I try to break the front legs and get a good whack at the head when there is an opportunity to break the horn. My last priority are the wings. If this is hard for you depending on your weapon, you may use the slinger pod ammos that drop from time to time. If you maintain close distance away as mentioned above and away from it's face you probably won't have to worry about its multiple breath attacks. Although you might want to watch out for that one breath attack when it charges up to fire it in a straight line kind of like a Kamehameha. That thing can one shot you. Watch out when it screams and moves a bit backward. He is going to charge forward and getting caught in this may trample and make you faint instantly, again. When it stands on its hind legs, take a closer look, if it remains standing then it will fire its breath attack in arc in front of him. This is easy to avoid but it puts your surroundings on fire. Watch out for fireblight. If you don't have good fire resistances just simply dodge roll on the ground 3 times to remove it. If he stands on its hind legs and starts to lean forward, stay away. It will try to smash you from above, that alone is a strong attack but what happens afterwards is far more deadly. Once its front legs hit the ground, a delayed huge explosion will follow. I see a lot of people carting because they get tempted to attack it as soon as the legs hit the ground. Just wait for the explosion to finish and then attack. If at some point you are hit with the various explosions and get dragonblight, use a nulberry to remove the status ailment. When Xeno'Jiiva gets airborne, your attacks might not be able to hit it at all so look around for the dropped slinger pod ammos and hit it. It will eventually fall down and will be open to your attacks. The bigger they are the harder they fall. You won't be able to mount this creature and like other elders traps will not work. Flashpods won't also work on it. Despite being slow, it moves around so much. So just play it safe, do not be greedy with your attacks and watch out for its deadliest moves.

14.0...Evasion Mantle
15.0...Rocksteady Mantle
16.0...Health Booster
17.0...Cleanser Booster
18.0...Affinity Booster

Lately I am still seeing a lot of questions on how to get certain boosters and mantles so I decided to write a guide for this even if it's a bit late. You might want to check the details especially for the Affinity Booster as some might have missed this one due to certain requirements. I know there are also other guides out there but I wanted to add a few more details and input for this.Without further adieu, let's start.

Oh, by the way, to switch between these specialized tools you can go to your red storage box in your room, tent or along areas in Astera under "Change Equipment". You only get one slot initially but upon completing the story you get an additional slot. You can also assign these on your radial menu.

[1.0] Ghillie Mantle

Effect Description: Conceals you from enemy view temporarily. The effect expires if you perform an attack or take damage.
Effect Duration: 120 secs
Recharge Time: 300 secs

[How to Obtain]
Assigned Quest: "Flying Sparks: Tobi-Kadachi" (3*) - Slay or Capture Tobi-Kadachi
Hunter Rank: 4 or higher

This is the first mantle that you'll unlock as the quest is part of the main story line. Instant cloaking device. This makes you invisible from the monster for a short time. Apart from sneaking up on a monster, you can use this to grant some breathing room if you need to heal up during a battle. Wear it and use your healing items without worrying about getting attacked. Stay away from Area of Effect attacks still as taking damage will terminate its effect. Attacking the monster will also remove the effect. One creative way to use it is by wearing it and using the slinger to shoot the ground and get the monster's attention and draw it to a specific area without getting noticed. Example are the special arena optional quests: wear the mantle, place your bombs below the boulder trap, use your slinger and shoot at the ground below the boulder. The monster will get curious and investigate the sound, now hit that switch and drop the boulder on the monster triggering the bombs in the process as well for good preemptive damage.

[2.0] Glider Mantle

Effect Description: Increases jump airtime and grants the power to ride strong winds. Also makes it easier to mount monsters.
Effect Duration: 180 secs
Recharge Time: 210 secs

[How to Obtain]
This is the second mantle that you'll likely unlock as it is also part of the main storyline after completing the initial expedition on the Coral Highlands map.

The mantle will grant you more air time after jumping off cliffs and edges. Use this for re-positioning and easier jumping attacks to help you mount monsters. You can also use this to ride strong winds in certain areas. Example in this video where you can easily reach the Legiana's nest (No need to actually wear the mantle as you can jump off the ledge and it will automatically wear the mantle).

[3.0] Bandit Mantle

Effect Description: Causes monsters to drop rare trade-in items when you attack them.
Effect Duration: 180 secs
Recharge Time: 210 secs

[How to Obtain]
Optional Quest: "Redefining the Power Couple" (5*) - Slay or capture Rathalos and Rathian, receive from The Armory
Hunter Rank: 9 or higher

By far the best mantle for farming zeny. After dealing certain amount of damage while wearing this, a monster will drop trade-in items such as scales that you can sell for decent amount of zeny especially in bulk. This is famously used on events such as "Triple Threat Throwdown" where you face off against Great Jagras, Great Girros and Dodogama. You drop a lot of scales as you can deal good damage to these monsters easily and chance to reap decorations when you finish the event quest.

[4.0] Vitality Mantle

Effect Description: Negates a fixed amount of damage, after which the effect expires.
Effect Duration: 120 secs
Recharge Time: 360 secs

[How to Obtain]
Assigned Quest: "Tickled Pink" (6*) - Slay or Capture Anjanath, receive from the Field Team Leader in Astera
Hunter Rank: 11 or higher

Kind of like an additional health bar on top of your original. It absorbs a certain amount of damage and expires after 120 secs or upon exhausting the damage threshold. This is one of the most useful mantles as it prevents you from fainting in one shot from a powerful monster attack such as Nergigante's dive bomb, Kirin's lightning, Teostra's supernova, etc. The cooldown is long so make sure to use it on moments you only truly need it such as when the monster is enraged and have a tendency to do its most damaging attacks.

[5.0] Challenger Mantle

Effect Description: Prompts monsters to target you more often and makes them easier to lure. The effect expires if you are attacked.
Effect Duration: 180 secs
Recharge Time: 300 secs

[How to Obtain]
Optional Quest: "The Red and Blue Crew" (7*) - Slay or capture Azure Rathalos and Rathalos, receive from The Armory
Hunter Rank: 13 or higher

Wearing this mantle will make the monster target you more often. The effect of the mantle ends upon taking damage, so if you are planning to draw aggro for your team and fully get the benefits of the mantle, make sure you are able to dodge or block the attacks. For that reason, it is not quite popular and probably not worth the slot as there are more useful options. You can also use this to lure the monster into traps or environment hazards.

[6.0] Thunderproof Mantle

Effect Description: Reduces thunder damage, nullifies thunderblight and paralysis
Effect Duration: 180 secs
Recharge Time: 210 secs

[How to Obtain]
Optional Quest: "Gone in a Flash" (5*) - Slay Kirin, receive from Impatient Biologist on the Botanical Research area in Astera
Hunter Rank: 8 or higher

Apart from the Fireproof mantle, the Thunderproof mantle is a very important tool because of Kirin. To get this item you actually need to fight the Elder Kirin himself in low rank. Take this opportunity to get to know its attack patterns and behavior so you will be ready for high rank and the tempered version. It's the same monster but has more powerful attacks that can one shot you. Get zapped without having the right gear and you're a goner. The Thunderproof mantle paired with high thunder resistance can save you from that. What makes Kirin deadlier is after getting paralyzed you are a sitting duck for his lightning so again this mantle if one of the must haves before facing off against it. For best results, bring both this one and the Vitality mantle, alternating between them when available.

[7.0] Fireproof Mantle

Effect Description: Reduces fire damage, nullifies fireblight and blastblight, and prevents damage from hot environments.
Effect Duration: 180 secs
Recharge Time: 210 secs

[How to Obtain]
Optional Quest: "A Fiery Convergence" (7*) - Slay or capture Lavasioth and Uragaan, receive from The Armory
Hunter Rank: 13 or higher

Fire resistance tool. Probably most used among the elemental mantles as there are a lot of dangerous fire attacks from monsters such as Anjanath's fire breath, Uragaan's exploding balls, Bazelguese's poop bombs and most importantly Teostra's fire attacks and aura. This will reduce the fire damage you take, thus a must have when dealing with Teostra as it could save you from those vicious flames and prevent a one-hit KO from supernova. It's also a free Cool Drink when fighting in fiery environment. Consider bringing this on those fights along with the Vitality mantlle.

[8.0] Waterproof Mantle

Effect Description: Reduces water damage, nullifies waterblight, reduces mobility restrictions in muck and negates them entirely for deep water.
Effect Duration: 180 secs
Recharge Time: 210 secs

[How to Obtain]
Complete Deliveries: Armor R&D: Waterproofing - Deliver 3 Jyuratodus Scale+ and 1 Jyuratodus Fin+ to the Resource Center, receive from The Armory
Hunter Rank: ??

Water resistance tool. Good for going up against Jyuratodus and Barroth especially on the watery areas of Wildspire Wastes as it will grant you more mobility in water. If you don't want to worry about waterblight then you can use this tool to prevent you from being afflicted with it.

[9.0] Iceproof Mantle

Effect Description: Reduces ice damage and nullifies iceblight
Effect Duration: 180 secs
Recharge Time: 210 secs

[How to Obtain]

This mantle has a lot of potential as stun is always welcome in maintaining the offensive. This mantle is very good. It is widely used on offensive builds and speedruns. The mantle increases the invulnerability window while evading and grants a temporary attack boost if upon successfully evading a monster attack at the very last moment. Cooldown is long and last for 90 seconds, use it during moments that you are enable to maintain the offensive.

The mantle is good but some people say it makes the game boring, you be the judge . It removes damage reactions and prevents you from stopping while attacking when a monster roars or when the ground tremors. It prevents knockbacks and prevents you from getting thrown away but you will still take damage in the process. This was also used for speedruns as it acts like free earplugs and as mentioned above prevents knockbacks and flinching allowing you to continuously attack the monster. Be careful though as you might not notice how much health you've loss while taking hits such as Kushala Daora's tornado. Cooldown is long and last for 90 seconds, use it wisely.

This is the first booster you'll receive as it is part of the main story after initially going up against Zorah Magdaros. Receive it from the Field Team Leader. This can be a powerful healing tool for the whole party as it affects players in along the specific area it was planted.

[17.0] Cleanser Booster

[How to Obtain]
Optional Quest: "On Nightmare's Wings" (4*) - Slay 5 Raphinos (flying small monsters in Rotten Vale)

Pretty much the same use Immunity mantle but instead affects the party members around the area of effect.

[18.0] Affinity Booster

Effect Description: Places a smoker that increases affinity.
Effect Duration: 60 secs
Recharge Time: 180 secs

[How to Obtain]
Triggered by a series of quests starting from the Research Base's Third Fleet Master.
Hunter Rank: 11 or Higher

A Tingling Taste (Optional Quest) - from Third Fleet Master in Research Base, kill Great Girros

A Master's Toast (Complete Deliveries) - from Shy Scholar in Research Base and then to the Resource Center, deliver 2 Thunder Sacs

Stuck in Their Ways (Optional Quest) - from the Cheerful Scholar in Reseach Base, Capture Tobi-Kadachi

A Fire-Spewing Brew (Complete Deliveries) - from the Scholar in Research Base to the Resource Center, deliver 2 Dodogama jaws

A Sore Site (Optional Quest) - from the Airship Engineer in Research Base, capture Odogaron

RRRRRumble in the Waste! (Optional Quest) - final quest that grants the booster, from the Third Fleet Master in Research Base, kill Diablos and Black Diablos.

This is easy to miss as the chain quests start in the Research Base, most people don't usually go there apart from being required in the main story. This is one of the most useful tools for offense builds as it grants 50% affinity upon entering the smoke. The buff lasts for 20 secs so re-enter the red smoke to get the buff again within the 60 sec time frame that the booster is up. Re-enter the area of effect before the time runs out as you still get the 20-sec buff even after the booster's time runs out. Meaning you can actually get 80 secs of +50% affinity.
